Building Division

Welcome to the Building Division

The Building and Safety Division is one of four divisions of the Community Development Department. The Division is responsible for the enforcement of City regulations concerning construction on private property. This Division is managed by the Building Official.

It is our overall goal to provide a safe, pleasant living and work environment for all of our citizens. If you have questions about your development project, please feel free to contact us. We will do our best to respond promptly. Please note if your telephone has "call blocking" we will not be able to return your call.

City Council Adopts Landscape Water Conservation Ordinance In July 2010, the Montclair City Council adopted a new Landscape Water Conservation Ordinance in compliance with Assembly Bill 1881. The Ordinance sets forth guidelines that shall be followed for new development and major landscape rehabilitation projects. Click here to access Ordinance No. 10-913.

Montclair Planning Commission
The next regular meeting of the Planning Commission is scheduled for Monday, February 13 at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chamber, 5111 Benito Street. The public is invited to attend.

Transactions and Use Tax Oversight Committee - Determination of Compliance
On September 27, 2007, the Transactions and Use Tax Oversight Committee (TUTOC) met to review and discuss documents related to the annual expediture of General Fund revenues, as supplemented by transactions and use tax revenues, in support of Montclair Business Plan strategic priorities.
