Attention Montclair Community

Effective immediately, and until rescinded, dine–in restaurants within the City of Montclair will be allowed to temporarily create or expand al fresco (outdoor) dining areas notwithstanding any preexisting limitations imposed under the Montclair Municipal Code. This City of Montclair Community Guidance is based on provisions of Dine–In Restaurants Guidance issued by the California Department of Public Health updated on Thursday, July 2, 2020 and Guidance on Closures of Sectors in Response to Covid–19 by Governor Newsom and the California Department of Public Health published on July 1, 2020.

In efforts to provide more testing opportunities for San Bernardino County residents, community testing events are being held throughout the county. At these testing events, samples are collected by inserting a swab up the nostril or into the mouth to the throat. These samples are then sent to a laboratory for COVID-19 testing. Events are free of charge and do not require health insurance.

On May 14, 2020, the County of San Bernardino launched the COVID-Compliant Business Partnership Program to support local small businesses and help ensure ongoing compliance with State and County health orders and direction.

Resolution 19-3253 Supporting the Gold Line Phase 2B Extension to Montclair

Foothill Gold Line - Winter 2017 Update

Over 700 guests, community members, dignitaries and Construction Authority staff attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Glendora to Montclair project; it was truly a momentous day in the San Gabriel Valley. The milestone day would not have been possible without the tremendous support for the project and Measure M, which ensured that this shovel-ready project would be funded as a Metro priority when funding became available.

Foothill Gold Line - Fall 2017 Update

In June, the Los Angeles County Metro Board of Directors approved the Funding Agreement (FA) and Master Cooperative Agreement (MCA) for the Foothill Gold Line light rail project from Glendora to Montclair – making the project the first Measure M rail project to move forward.

The 12.3-mile extension of the Metro Gold Line system, will include six new stations, including one in the City of Montclair (see artist rendering below). The FA and MCA lay the framework for $1.4 billion to be available to complete the Los Angeles County portion of the project (from Glendora to Claremont), and the roles and responsibilities of the Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority (Construction Authority) and Metro as partners to complete the line in the coming years. The Construction Authority continues to work with San Bernardino County to fully fund the portion of the project from Claremont to Montclair.

With this major milestone achieved, the Glendora to Montclair project will break ground in October 2017 and is anticipated to reach substantial completion in 2026. After groundbreaking, the first two years of the project will be spent relocating utilities, conducting pre-construction activities, finalizing engineering and hiring a design-build contractor. A contractor is anticipated to be hired in late-2018 and major construction is not anticipated to start until late-2019.

Foothill Gold Line – Summer 2017 Project Status Memo

The Foothill Gold Line from Glendora to Montclair is a 12.3-mile extension of the Metro Gold Line light rail system that currently runs between Los Angeles and the City of Azusa, along the Foothills of the San Gabriel Valley. The extension is part of the growing network of rail lines being built throughout Los Angeles County, and will add new Gold Line stations in Glendora, San Dimas, La Verne, Pomona, Claremont and Montclair. Once completed, a trip from Montclair to Pasadena will take approximately 38 minutes and further to downtown Los Angeles will take approximately 67 minutes.

The Glendora to Montclair project will break ground in October 2017 and take nine years to complete. It is being funded by Los Angeles and San Bernardino Counties. The portion of the project within Los Angeles County (Glendora to Claremont) is being funded mostly by Metro’s Measure M half-cent sales tax that was approved by voters in November 2016 and went into effect on July 1, 2017 (additional funds are coming from Measure R). The portion from Claremont to Montclair is being funded by San Bernardino County.
