Military Banners

The City of Montclair will be taking submissions for two banner programs, the "Current Member of the Armed Forces" banner program for those currently serving in the armed forces (offered free of charge) and "Veteran" banner program for those who have been honorably discharged from the armed forces ($200 for the first year, including banner production and labor, and $150 every three years to replace weathered banners). Banners are available for Montclair residents or Montclair High School graduates only. Banners are displayed every Spring through November on Montclair streets. After the banner holder in the "Current Member of the Armed Forces" program is discharged or the banner holder in the "Veteran" program chooses not to display their banner, it will be presented to them or their family at a City Council meeting.

Applications will be accepted until November 8, 2018 or until all banner spaces are full.

Annual Canned Food and Toy Drive

Beginning on Sunday, November 11 through Thursday, December 13, the Human Services Department will sponsor its Annual Canned Food and Toy Drive. Employees and the community are encouraged to donate to this worthy cause.
For the health and safety of those receiving food baskets, we cannot accept outdated, dented, or bulging cans―or open packages. Toys must be new and unwrapped.
Marked collection bins will be located in the Recreation Center, Youth Center, Senior Center, City Hall lobby, Fire Station 1, and the Police Department's lobby. Collected food and toys will be distributed to needy Montclair residents during the 2018 Holiday Toy and Food Basket Program.
Basket applications from low-income Montclair families were taken this week. Approximately 150 families applied for a basket and those applications are now being reviewed.

Ends on Thursday, December 13

Montclair Youth Center, 5111 Benito Street Thursday, November 29, 2018 • 6 pm

Children can bring a letter to Santa or write one at the event and deposit it in the specially marked mailbox. Personal replies will be returned by mail to those who have included a legible address and the child’s name. Residents are invited to purchase a “gift light” for the community tree in memory or in honor of a loved one. Each light costs $10 and includes a commemorative certificate. The name of the person remembered or honored will also be placed in a permanent display at City Hall during the holiday season. Proceeds from gift light sales will benefit youth services in Montclair. Event sponsored by the Community Activities Commission and the Montclair-Ontario Junior Women’s Club.
