Submit Montclair to College Applications and Community Service

Montclair to College (MTC) is a college readiness program brought to Montclair High School students and their families by the City of Montclair. If completed successfully, MTC allows students the opportunity to earn a two-year scholarship to Chaffey College- a value of approximately $4,500! The MTC scholarship includes tuition, textbooks, and enrollment fees* for two years at Chaffey College. While at Montclair High School, MTC students and their families participate in MTC activities preparing them for the transition to College. When MTC students arrive at Chaffey College they are welcomed by a MTC College Counselor dedicated to ensuring MTC student success! ANY 9th grade Montclair High School student can apply! MHS 10th-12th grade students must have enrolled each year while at MHS to continue in addition to completing the following requirements:

• Apply online each year at MHS

• Complete 5 hours of community service at a non-profit annually

• Graduate successfully with at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA

Submit Montclair to College Applications and Community Service by MARCH 1, 2019.

Community Garden Clean-Up (Second Saturday Gardening Club)

The Montclair Community Garden and the Montclair Community Fruit Park are in need of volunteers to help remove weeds and to help perform general tree and garden maintenance. The Gardening Club will meet the second Saturday of the every month from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm at both the Montclair Community Garden and the Montclair Fruit Park. 

MEETING DATES: Jan 12, Feb 9, Mar 9, Apr 13, May 11

**Dates are subject to change or cancellation without notice. Please check the city website and Facebook page for up to date information.

Those who are interested in volunteering please show up at either park ready to volunteer. No gardening knowledge is needed; we will provide instructions and the gardening tools & gloves. (However, you are welcome to bring your own!). Light refreshments will be provided to those who volunteer. Both parks do not have restrooms on site, so please plan accordingly. Volunteers under the age of 18 are welcome; however, a parent/guardian will need to fill out a waiver before they can participate. Volunteers under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian while volunteering.

AFTERNOON AT THE MOVIES FREE! 

Once a month a FREE movie will be shown in the Senior Center at 1:00 pm. Popcorn and lemonade will be provided. Candy and nuts will be on sale for $1 each, monies raised benefit senior programs

Food Distribution

The Human Services Department and the Community Services Department of San Bernardino County coordinate to provide free food commodities to qualified Montclair residents, 18 years of age and older, on the third Thursday of each month. Residents must qualify by income and must bring proof of income and residency. The commodities vary from month to month, but may include canned meat, canned vegetables, flour, cornmeal, peanut butter, soups and juices.
