Housing Element Update
6:00pm - 7:30pm Montclair Council Chambers
5111 Benito Street, Montclair, California 91763
This will be a joint meeting of the City Council and Planning Commission to receive a progress report on the update to the City’s Housing Element.
Per State law, the specific purposes of the Housing Element are to assess both current and future housing needs and constraints, and establish housing goals, policies, and programs that provide a strategy for meeting the City’s housing needs. In addition, local governments are required to prepare an inventory of land suitable for residential development, including vacant sites and sites having the potential for redevelopment, and an analysis of the relationship of zoning and public facilities and services to these sites.
The City of Montclair has identified 112 vacant and underutilized parcels totaling roughly 146 acres that could be rezoned to allow for residential development. As part of the workshop, the consultant will go over the proposed sites that have been submitted to the state for potential rezoning.
