The City of Montclair and the Montclair Police Department takes your health and safety and the health and safety of our employees seriously. If this is an emergency, please call 9-1-1. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought many changes to the way the City, and the Department, does business to protect everyone from unnecessary risks during the pandemic, including taking many reports by phone to reduce face-to-face exposure.  Recently, we began the process of implementing online reporting for many routine police reporting needs.

Online reports are a convenient alternative to phone reports.  You can file a report when it’s convenient for you, without having to wait for an officer to call you back.  You can also obtain a copy of the report yourself, which is a further convenience.

There are several reports that are eligible for online reporting.

  • Custody order violations
  • Harassing phone calls
  • Minor vehicle collisions (no injuries)
  • Hit-and-run collisions (no injuries)
  • Identity theft
  • Lost property
  • Thefts, vehicle burglaries
  • Vandalism
  • Vehicle vandalism

If your report is one of these types, and the incident occurred in the City of Montclair, online reporting may be right for you.

File a report online if you meet these basic requirements.
