Fire Chief Ryon DierckRyon Dierck’s career in the fire service began in 2008 when he was hired as a full-time firefighter by Kern County Fire Department. He spent 13 years protecting the citizens of Kern County while holding the ranks of Firefighter, Fire Engineer, and Fire Captain. He was hired by the Montclair Fire Department as a Fire Battalion Chief in 2020. During his tenure with the Montclair Fire Department he has managed the department's Training Division as well as the department’s Operations Division. Chief Dierck was promoted to Assistant Fire Chief in 2023 where he served the citizens of Montclair providing strategic management of the Fire Department under the Fire Chief’s direction. In 2025, Chief Dierck was made Fire Chief of the Montclair Fire Department. Chief Dierck holds an Associate’s Degree in Fire Technology, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of California Santa Barbara, and a Master's Degree in Business Administration with a focus in Management. He is a certified Chief Fire Officer, as well as a Certified Executive Chief Fire Officer through California State Fire Training. He also holds certifications as a Hazardous Materials Specialist, Swift Water Technician, Confined Space Technician, as well as a Hazardous Materials Incident Commander. |

Assistant Fire Chief Thomas NicollThomas Nicoll’s fire service career began in 2000 when he was hired as a firefighter by the Kern County Fire Department. He Spent 20 years with the Kern County Fire Department and worked as a Firefighter, Fire Engineer, and Fire Captain. He was hired by the Montclair Fire Department as a Battalion Chief in 2021 where he manages the department’s training division along with his operational shift duties. Chief Nicoll promoted to Assistant Fire Chief in August 2025 and will be responsible for recruitment, facilities, and operations. Chief Nicoll holds a Fire Technology Certificate, an Associate’s Degree in Fire Science, a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts, and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. He is a Registered Instructor, a certified Company Fire Officer, Chief Fire Officer, and Executive Chief Fire Officer through California State Fire Training along with several NWCG qualifications. |

Battalion Chief Thomas DowserThomas Dowser’s career in the fire service started at the Montclair Fire Department in February of 1992 when he was hired as a firefighter after a year of serving as a reserve firefighter. In 1999 he attended paramedic school at the Paramedic Training Institute and went on to assist in the formation of the city’s paramedic program. He was also one of several individuals to begin providing immediate staffing for the program. He was promoted in 2006 to Fire Engineer and again in 2009 to Fire Captain. Tom Dowser currently serves as a Fire Battalion Chief for the Montclair Fire Department overseeing the department’s emergency medical services. |

Battalion Chief Stanley BoehmStanley Boehm’s career in the fire service began in January 2012 when he was hired as a Firefighter Paramedic with the Montclair Fire Department. He was promoted to the rank of Fire Engineer in April of 2017, and again in August 2020 to the rank of Fire Captain. During his tenure with the Montclair Fire Department, Stanley has played an active role in both EMS and Training. He has worked to further develop the Department’s Active Shooter Program and has served on the Department’s Training Committee for the past 7 years. Stanley Boehm was promoted to Battalion Chief in June of 2024, where he currently serves the citizens of Montclair and oversees the Department’s Emergency Medical Services. Chief Boehm holds an Associates Degree in Fire Technology and a Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Administration from Columbian Southern University. Stan has also acquired Chief Officers Certification through California State Fire Training. He is a certified Company Fire Officer, and holds a paramedic license with the State of California and San Bernardino County.

Battalion Chief Ian DuewellBattalion Chief Duewell began his fire service career in 2005 as a seasonal firefighter for the Sutter County Fire Department and the California Department of Forestry. In 2010, he joined the Kern County Fire Department where he spent 11 years protecting the community as both a Firefighter and Fire Engineer. In 2021, he joined the Montclair Fire Department as a Fire Engineer and was soon promoted to Fire Captain where he served the public on emergency calls while making contributions to both the department's training and operations divisions. Chief Duewell was promoted to Battalion Chief in 2025, where he currently serves the citizens of Montclair on emergency calls as well as overseeing the departments Training Division. Chief Duewell holds an Associate's Degree in Fire Science from Columbia Southern University and is on track to complete a Bachelor's Degree in Fire Administration with a focus in Fire Investigation by March 2026. He is certified as both a Chief Fire Officer and a Company Fire Officer through California State Fire Training. Additionally, he holds certifications as a Hazardous Materials Technician and incident Commander, multiple Technical Rescue Technician-level certifications, along with several advanced rescue and command-level courses. |
