Report Copies

Traffic Collision Reports

Copies of traffic collision reports are not public records, but are available to involved parties, their insurance company, or legal representative at the currently established fee.

Crime/Incident Reports

  • Police reports are not public records; however, a limited portion of some reports may be released to the victim.
  • Victims of identity theft may obtain a copy of their crime report at the currently established fee.
  • Victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, human trafficking, and elder abuse may obtain a copy of their crime report at no charge.

Call for Service Records

A log of calls for service for the past 60 days is available for public viewing during regular business hours. This log provides single line-item entries of the date, time, location, nature of call for service, and disposition. Copies of log pages are available for public viewing and for purchase at the currently established fee. A separate request form is required for each log item entry or page.

Copies of log item entries older than 60 days may be requested if the requester provides the log item number for a specific call for service or sufficient descriptive information to clearly identify the specific call for service record being sought.

Database searches for call for service history at specific locations, or involving specific individuals or businesses, is not available.

Database searches for statistical information about specific areas or reporting districts is available by submitting a written request of specific information being sought. Information about call for service history at a specific location, or regarding a specific individual, is not available. A research fee of $25 per hour applies.

How to Request a Copy of a Report or Call for Service Record

A written request for a copy of a report or a call for service record, along with money order or cash for $1, may be dropped off at the Police Department, or may be mailed to: Montclair Police Department, Attention: Records Bureau, PO Box 2308, Montclair, CA 91763. A photocopy of the report or call for service record will be mailed to the requester at the address provided. Please allow ten days for processing of the request.
