Block Wall, Patios, and Other Plan Submittals

Masonry Walls

All masonry walls 24 inches high or more require building permits. To obtain a building permit for a masonry wall, a completed application must be presented to the Community Development counter staff along with a plot plan showing the following information:

a) Name of the property owner, address, and assessor’s parcel number.

b) Plans shall be drawn to scale with a north arrow.

c) Show all property lines and dimensions.

d) Indicate all streets or right-of-ways abutting the subject property.

e) Indicate all existing and proposed structures on the subject property.

f) Show the distance of new walls from existing structures and property lines.

g) Indicate the type, length, and height of all fences or walls.

The application may be considered incomplete by the Planning Division unless the information from the above list is provided.

The Building Division has some pre-engineered masonry wall plans that are designed for use with residential projects. These plans are available at the Community Development counter or can be downloaded from this web site, all others require an engineered design.

Patios

patioAll patios require building permits. To obtain a building permit for a patio, a completed application must be presented to the Community Development counter staff along with a plot plan showing the following information:

a) Name of the property owner, address, and assessor’s parcel number.

b) Plans shall be drawn to scale with a north arrow.

c) Show all property lines and dimensions.

d) Indicate all streets or right-of-ways abutting the subject property.

e) Indicate all existing and proposed structures on the subject property.

f) Show the distance of the patio from existing structures and property lines.

g) Indicate the type, length, and height of the proposed patio.

The application may be considered incomplete by the Planning Division unless the information from the above list is provided.

The Building Division also requires a detailed construction drawing. To assist you with preparing this drawing the Building Division has a sample patio plan to assist you. These plans are available at the Community Development counter or can be downloaded from this website.
