Trash and Sewer

The City of Montclair contracts with Burrtec Waste Industries, Inc. for all residential and commercial trash collection.  The City of Montclair bills for residential trash.  For any commercial trash inquiries, Burrtec can be reached at (909) 620-1353.

The City of Montclair utilizes an automated solid waste collection program.  It is designed to efficiently collect trash, recyclables, and greenwaste and to assist the City in meeting mandated diversion goals established by the State of California.

The City of Montclair requires weekly trash collection service for all residential and commercial properties.  The benefits of this mandate are:

  • Discourages illegal dumping
  • Supports the City's recycling goals by providing a controlled waste stream
  • Promotes public health by ensuring weekly trash removal from all properties within the City

Each resident is provided with a 95-gallon black container for trash, a 96-gallon green container for greenwaste, and a 60-gallon blue container for recyclables.  A 65-gallon senior black can for trash is available upon request.  All trash or recycling must fit inside of the container.  Extra bags, boxes or cans of trash or recycling left at the curb will not be accepted.

Trash containers should be set out the night before or no later than 6:00 a.m. on collections day.  Place your trash containers in the street, curbside, with the wheels touching the curb.  The containers must be placed at least three feet from any obstructions, such as a vehicle, fence, lamppost, power pole, or mailbox and with one foot between each automated container.  Vehicles may still be parked in the driveway or on the street as long as they are no closer than three feet from the containers.  Should a vehicle block access to the container, collection can not be made.

Holiday Collection Schedule

Burrtec has the following holidays each year:

  • New Years Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Fourth of July
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day

If the holiday falls on a weekday, your trash will be delayed one day beginning on the holiday through the remainder of the week.  If the holiday falls on a weekend, your trash service will not be affected.

Sewer

Sewer is waste water or sewage that is carried away through your plumbing.  The sewer charge covers the chemical treatment of the waste water.
